Known History

In regard to Lenka Nox de Alasdair, there have been an array of conflicting sources on their history— beyond the mass destruction of documentation during the 'Udoxan Dark Age' of Isold'ekir's reign, Lennox has always been a rather contentious topic for the bulk of Udoxan scholars. Due to their nature as being one of the few Gods that most would contend as potentially being that of a Primaeval, Lennox has been studied by many theologists, philosophers, and political science students alike. As one of the most ancient entities on Asla'nir and by far the one with the longest reign, it is quite difficult to surmise Lennox without taking up half of a book, but it is also impossible to reach such a number of pages without most of them being the argumentations and theorisations of people who are, admittedly, amongst Lennox's own peers. Despite being such a figure shrouded in mystery, there are quite a few things about Lennox that are known to be true— most of these, however, tie into their invaluable role during the Second Udoxan Civil War, or, as it is generally known amongst the Udoxan populace, the 'Tyrant's War.' Even Lennox's own conception and birth are uncertain to most— whilst it is widely believed that they are the progeny of none other than Ma'akali, the Devourer of Time, and Isold'ekir, the Render of Space, their heritage tying back to these two Gods in particular is under dispute. Supposedly, those who knew the three Alasdairs oftentimes state that Lennox's appearance is uncannily resemblant of Vivek'tir, the previous God of Infinity before Lennox's eventual wielding of the title (although not much is known about Vivek either, for that matter). Despite that, Lennox was, at the very least, regarded as Isold'ekir's eventual successor based on the limited documentation found at the time, much of which regards Lennox underneath a few different names depending on the date of the document in question— Echo, Ma'het, and Marleia.

Different analysists of Udoxa's mottled past argue very different things about Lennox— some believe them to have been persistently a beacon of hope and an advocate against Isolde's tyrannical reign; others, an associate of Isolde who came to see the wrongdoing of his ways and sought to reform the government; and others still, one of many victims to Isold'ekir's abuses of those around him. Sources at the time prove and disprove different aspects of each theory in different ways. What writings we can find from Vivek'tir in his communications with other Gods argue Isold'ekir to have been an abusive father and husband— likewise, many of Isold'ekir's underlings report feeling sympathetic or concerned for the 'Children of Isolde,' twenty-five major leadership figures in the Order of the Creator who were, supposedly, children, adopted or not, of the Tyrant King. This does not deny, however, that Lenka is amongst that number and certainly served Isold'ekir for a considerable period of time— descriptions of the enigmatic figure 'Echo' appear similar to Lennox, as does descriptions of their magic and capabilities. Documents collected at the time indicated that Echo, as well as many other major leadership figures within the Order of the Creator may have potentially been mind controlled through advanced Domination magic, however, ultimately, it is clear that this did not prevent the inevitable uprise against Isold'ekir for his tyranny against the Udoxan people.

Lennox, as well as a group of peers known as the Circle, or rather, Circulus, began the rebellion against Isold'ekir— Lennox took on the name of Lenka Nox as a pen name whilst writing a series of paper critiquing and analyzing the ethics, morals, and ideology of the Udoxan government at the time. Through Caradhir University, the papers were published, much to the disgruntlement of Isolde. At the time, the papers were not taken seriously, however, Caradhir was told to cease in the production of the letters— in response, Lennox had several of Isolde's leadership executed and lynched, with their body parts sent to Isolde himself. Consequently, the King sent a small regiment to Caradhir University, known as the Battle of Caradhir, and the students and staff at the time managed to dismantle their forces. After rallying Abrorik, Nephi, and mortals alike, Lennox essentially began the Second Udoxan Civil War as its head in taking down Isold'ekir. Although the war was particularly bloody, with many of the rebellions forces and greatest leaders dying in battle, they eventually managed to push into Tempesur. Amongst those lost included the likes of the legendary Drakara de Bellicus, a renowned High General of Udoxa, and her own daughter, Oruci de Zelaegir-Bellicus, both of which fought on opposing sides. With the capital city taken and Isolde's most powerful generals dead or crippled, Lennox and the rebellion took their forces took to sieging the Syah'h Palace. Upon breaking in, Lennox and Isolde came into direct conflict and ultimately, Lennox pulled out as the victor.

Beyond serving as a major figurehead for the rebellion, Lennox's political background and ability to rally the other Udoxan Gods resulted in them garnering a great deal of respect. Regardless of their mottled past, Lennox was viewed as a war hero, masterful technician, and intelligent, calculated leader by the people of Udoxa— when they took control of the nation, there was a great deal of celebration throughout Udoxa of Isolde's death and the end of his reign. Coronated as the Archon of Udoxa, Lennox led efforts in slowly rebuilding Udoxa's infrastructure, much of which had been levelled in the conflict, and reworking the Udoxan government to improve its welfare, education, and rights. Isolde's reign had stripped many rights from local Eldritch tribes; however, Lennox re-instilled their control of various regions, requiring nobility to originate from and represent their given regions. Likewise, leadership was forced to obtain degrees in political science and take classes in ethics, sociology, and sophonce studies. Additionally, nobility were now forced to have advisors originating not just from noble families, but also from the common folk as well. Many of Isolde's most devout servants and followers were executed, imprisoned for their crimes, or accepted sentences to be admitted to Ichor Harvesting Plants.

During Udoxa's slow rebuilding and reworking of its systems, the Udoxan people would face their first external threat and one of the few notable ones throughout history: the Dimonian-Udoxan War. Taking advantage of Udoxa's fragility as a new government, Damien von Aredhal declared war on Udoxa in the hopes to potentially gain a foothold in a new territory. Udoxa's people may have just escaped a bloody civil war, but Lennox managed to rally them to defend against Dimonia as a newly united people. Lennox garnered further respect for continuing their habit of remaining on the frontlines in combat— Udoxa fought against Dimonia's forces within their own territories and successfully beat them off. The combined attrition from the harsh Udoxan wildlands, the environmental stellar magic, and the Udoxan military's efforts to cut off Dimonian supply lines left Dimonia's forces weakened. The efforts of multiple of Udoxa's mightiest generals and Lennox managed to eventually repel the invaders and Udoxa did not send forces to follow them back to the Alerian continent. Although Udoxa has faced many other external conflicts, most of these were rather minor and the stories told by Alerian survivors of ancient Eldritch horrors, Daiesthai, and Cambions served as a valuable discouragement for many other nations. Given how long Lennox has reigned (almost seven million years), it is no surprise that they have managed to be a veteran of dozens of wars throughout written history, as the Archon has always insisted in participating on the battlefield themselves— the most notable of which include the Arkemite-Udoxan Wars. After the First War and the First Plague that struck Isigkir, the Udoxan people took advantage of the disarray and took over portions of Isigkir that had weaker governments at the time— these regions became known as the Aeternix Snowlands and have remained part of the Udoxan nation ever since. The Udoxan government felt that this would be a strategic move given that they had partial control over the region and doing so would enable them to have another barrier for future conflicts in the form of the Kir'toth Mountain Range. Although the then-Isigkirians were hesitant at the time, Lennox continued to encourage localised leadership from natives to the region, as well as provided aid to those affected by the pestilence.

Although Lennox has mostly made an impact on Udoxan history, they have made some impact on other regions beyond warfare. Lennox is particularly known for their involvement in the practice of sealing away Old Gods and has been directly involved in handling Old God invasions, even in non-Udoxan territories. The particular difficulty with Old God cults and terrorists has led to Lennox creating an array of edicts and laws serving to focus certain ministries of the government on identifying and shutting down would-be threats to Udoxa— these were released after N'ghora's invasion of Aleria, in which Alyriana and Lennox involved themselves in sealing her away in a vault. In the modern era, Lennox continues to reign as the Archon of Udoxa and maintains their Divine Title despite their expressed disliking of it— as such, they encourage individuals who would otherwise worship them to regard them as a prophet, rather than a God. This has led to some religious schisms amongst their followers: Some still worship Lennox whereas others see them as merely a prophet and the different sects come into direct conflict and butt heads often. Lennox has also maintained a part-time teaching position at Caradhir, where they teach a wide array of subjects based upon their multitude of degrees. Their particular specialty is in creating Artificians and magitech prosthetics, both of which they have produced revolutionary inventions for. As of recent, they have married their resurrected love interest, Queen Consort Oruci de Alasdair and the two are expecting children— this particular union was of great celebration within Udoxa, as Lennox has never had any confirmed partners, nor did they possess a direct heir to the throne. They have also managed to foster a new alliance with Vasterioth and are working to encourage more positive relations with other nations, including Udoxa's long-time enemy and rival, Arkeum. The latter, however, is a more recent development with the production of a cure for Stellar Rot with Arkemite scientists' assistance.

Sects

Circuli

As saviours of Asla'nir and of Udoxa, we idealize the Circle— the Arkheins are the ultimate uplifters.
Knowing that, we aspire to walk in their shoes, to uplift the world around us much as they did.
For this reason, we pray to Infinity and we swear oaths in their vast and eternal domain and we yearn to become as the Circulus did megaanum ago.
For this reason, we swear to our God and pray that they shall give us the power to deliver others from suffering, much as they had done so long ago.
For this reason, we praise no other as much as the revolutionaries that have saved our world time and time again and wish to fill their roles now that the world is absent of them and all the emptier for it.

Insert

As Infinity witnesses all things, they shall bring the best path to fruition.
As Infinity produces Finality, all things shall be brought to an end.
As Infinity purges this world with flame, stripping it of vitriol, hatred, and filth, it will be renewed.
For this reason, we herald Asla'nir's doom and we sing in hymns, for we long for the end above all else.
When the End Times come, all shall understand what sins they have wrought upon this world and they shall quake in terror as our souls are uplifted and theirs are damned for their sin.
- Text from the Edicts of the Doomherald, unknown page.

Understood widely by most to be heretics and hated by even their own God, the Insert, sometimes known as the Harbingers of Doom, are a particularly fervent sect of Lennox's faith. Although they garner very little from their worship due to their God's rejection of them, the Insert are predominantly composed of the vulnerable who have been taken into the faith. They pray for the downfall of Asla'nir and for their God to bring the End Times upon the mortal world so as to 'cure' it of its immorality, conflicts, and disparaging nature. The Insert do not believe in anything coming afterwards after these End Times, however— they revel in nothingness, in the absence of all, in the fact that their God is the Finale, and they pray that after Asla'nir's downfall that the rest of the mortal planes shall be purged as well. Most reject them upon the awareness of what faith they follow, believing them to be a cult, however, they do not believe in harming others themselves, leading most to understand them to be relatively harmless. The only true ability they have garnered from their worship is the ability to predict disasters through Turbidius Probabilitas, which they claim to be the result of their God. They are currently placed on a watchlist by the Udoxan government under the Udoxan Citizen Protection Act, however, and are being monitored actively due to the potential of them becoming a threat to the safety of Udoxa.

Magic Gained From Worship
Sect Innate Magical Potential
All Turbidus Probabilitas
  • Almost all followers of Lennox have some degree of foresight, at a minimum. Those who pray regularly to them or follow their teachings dutifully enough have the ability to generally foresee a future possibility of what might occur in the near future, although it has a considerable chance to be only slightly correct or even entirely wrong. The more devoted an individual is to them, the further they can witness into the future and the more possibilities they can see. Although Lennox themselves reportedly can see millions of possibilities within an instant, the likes of High Priests can report seeing several thousand within an hour, with some reporting seeing upwards of a million a day. Through concentration and via rituals known for enabling greater Divination, the most devoted of Lennox's followers can see much farther into the future or even into the past or present, although these visions are generally far hazier.
  • It is traditionally quite common for followers to be capable of casting spells via Ordo and Chao through the usage of the likes of magical focuses traditionally associated with the magic, such as playing cards, die, or tarot cards. Although these spells are oftentimes chaotic, uncontrollable, and are rarely immensely potent, more devoted followers generally have far more potent spells that arise from this magic, with their most devoted sometimes even having access to the likes of Possibilitas in producing such effects.
  • Summa Substantiale
  • Many followers of Lennox reportedly have the ability to witness souls, although the degree of soulsight is limited by experience and practice. More often than not, many of these followers have innate racial magic or practice within the field that enables them to have far better soulsight, however, newer practitioners with no innate potential can generally at least obtain first degree soulsight, if not second-degree soulsight. Those who have taken Oaths have far more considerable soulsight.
  • Further usages of soul magic are rare, however, have been reported periodically, especially by those truly devoted to them or who have taken Oaths in their name. Rarely do these magics involve the usage of Tu, with most being capable of using Meum, such as producing pseudo-familiars, true familiars, or manipulating their own soul essences, although the degree of skill and access depends on the age of the caster and their experience. Those who enchant have noted an increased ability to make small ventures into the art of soulsmithing, with particularly talented enchanters taking to it readily.
  • Viva Caelatura
  • Access to Viva Caelatura is generally somewhat limited, however, is quite probable— many have found themselves capable of casting the likes of weaker, usually non-harmful spells known as cantrips, casting smaller spells via Futhark or Glyphe, or enhancing their pre-existing Viva Caelatura. As with all other forms of faith magic, the amount of potency depends upon skill, age, and devotion. Enchanters have reported having access to being able to mix magics together slightly better and the ability to imbue Turbidus Probabilitas into items, something generally difficult for most to do. Some have found that they can merge Viva Caelatura with Turbidus Probabilitas to create more effective, versatile, and even slightly controllable magic at the cost of it oftentimes becoming difficult or even harmful for the caster to work with. Further research on the nature of this has yet to be conducted.
