Common Perspectives, Customs, and Attitudes

Alnabi has a blend of various cultures and customs depending on the particular region that one originates from— even within a given race, different subsections of Alnabi have documented differences in artistic expression, which is one of the dominant and keystone features of Alnabian culture. There are over seventy different 'ethnic groups' noted within Alnabi, ignoring its many individual peoples that further divide them, and thus Alnabi is a rather diverse empire that predominantly organises itself via a millet system, enabling localised communities to lead themselves rather than purely dedicating it to the Sultana and her delegates. In addition to this, Alnabi oftentimes takes on some of the cultures of the native Tirytian people who fled to Alnabi when it was imperialised, as well as those enslaved by Tiryt who took refuge there as well. Various ethnic groups have historically been nomadic or sedentary, with some wandering eternally across its sands, although argiculture is a crucial component of Alnabian society as well. Alnabians hail back from many lineages of communities who believe themselves to be blessed by one of the many Gods of Asla'nir and reasonably so— the nation has been host to many notable Gods throughout its history who had a fondness for the region— and thus, faith is a dominant presence amongst the peoples of Alnabi, one which is key to many of their daily life. Due to Alnabi's history of serving as a romping ground for various Gods, different groups have different opinions on different topics, however, some are fairly consistent— Ki, in particular, is such a popular God that Alnabians generally distinctly have an open acceptance and understanding of love and sexuality, with the theme having long since dominated its expression of art and self and polyamory being decently commonplace. Arikar's uplifting and stabilization of the region enforces a respect for combat and the Alsha'mushar's militaristic leanings have instilled a sense of a honourable warrior-based culture into parts of Alnabi, especially the original region before its expansion into its modern day empire.

Beyond serving as warriors, however, Alnabians are artists and artisans, first and foremost. Studious and intrigued by the world around them, Alnabi has historically been a centre of literature, prose, storytelling, and theatre— the art of shadow-telling and various forms of oral storytelling have been passed down throughout Alnabi's long, extensive history. Dance and music are emphasized as powerful methods of expression, especially within the Raseelani region, where numerous styles of dance, many of which express local mythologies and folk tales, have been noted. Alnabi has been a centre of trade for many years, with many wares being common crafts from the Alnabian people, particularly mystical ones and specialised crafts, such as textile arts, jewelry, and mystical productions, like scrolls, tomes, and enchanted goods. These particular creations are oftentimes interwoven with the Alnabian peoples' heritage— beyond methodology, the long-standing production of these items has become a unique form of artistry that differs from region to region. It is not uncommon for those who can afford it to don cloth with complex patterns, which they oftentimes wreath themselves in, covering much of their body with embroidered fabrics, as it is considered a sign of modesty and humility to keep oneself covered, beyond its advantage in blocking the harsh sun. Alnabi's openness to trade extends beyond such creations as well— Alnabians are generally open-minded towards outsiders and although they have had many enemies throughout time, they will always enjoy a traveller, especially one that has a good tale. Despite this, there are some who are hesitant to welcome outsiders to their lands— Alnabi is the neighbour of rather hostile nations who do not appreciate Alnabi's seeming welcoming nature and her peoples are aware of this fact, with elder generations being even more wary than the youth.
